  • Reincarnation: The Cycle of Rebirth

Reincarnation is the belief that the soul is reborn again into the physical world after death.Reincarnation is an interesting and important concept in Wiccan faith. This belief frees us from the fear of death;Knowing that the spirit will continue on gives comfort to ease the sadness of a loved one's passing. But what is the overall purpose of reincarnation?

After the physical body dies, the soul moves on to another realm to rest and rejuvenate before again returning to the physical world. The realm that harbors the soul in the afterlife is known by many names. In Wicca it is known as the Summerland.Ancient Celts called it Tir nan og,the Land of Undying Youth. However, the name isn't so very important as the knowledge of what goes on in that realm.

Some say the ultimate purpose of the soul is to become one with the Creative force, the One who formed us.And to reach that goal we must first pass through several lifetimes and learn the lessons put forth to us.After the physical death,we rest and combine the lessons of past lives with the new one we've learned. In the case where a person did not complete the lesson set for them, they would return again in another life to repeat it.
